Our Microbiology Laboratory specializes in the bacteriological investigation of Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) by analyzing the IVD tissue samples harvested during surgical procedures. From the IVDD patients. Equipped with Laminar Air Flow (LAF) systems and a media preparation room, we ensure the sterile processing of IVD disc tissues. A core component of our lab'sMicrobiology workflow is the ability to culture fastidious organisms; utilizing incubator shakers and anaerobic jars, we perform rigorous screening methods to isolate both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria inhabiting the disc tissue..
Beyond traditional cultivation methods, our facility employs advanced molecular techniques to definitive microbial identification. Once bacterial cultures are isolated, we extract genomic DNA and target the 16S rRNA gene for amplification. These amplicons are then analyzed using Sanger sequencing, allowing us to generate high-resolution taxonomic data. This combination of classical microbiology and molecular diagnostics enables us to accurately characterize the microbiome associated with spinal pathologies.
